2020 FAMILY DAY TRIP – HO CHI MINH CITY OFFICE

Event day: 17 October 2020
Venue: My Tho – Tien Giang Province
Organiser: RHTLaw Vietnam

Our family day trip this year took us to My Tho, a tranquil water region, not very far from the city. This trip came in right time for us to take a breath after weeks of working hard.

We started our journey in a slight rain to our first destination, Vinh Trang Pagoda. This is one of the must-see pagodas in the area. The architecture of Vinh Trang Pagoda is a harmonious combination of Asian and European styles which created the splendid, but simple features of this Buddhist pagoda. The visit to this pagoda is more than meaningful as we could send our good prayers to our people in the Middle of the country.

Our trip continued with a leisure cruise on the Tien River around the four beautiful mounds known as Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix and Tortoise mounds. It would be regretful if we don’t talk about the rowing boat rides which took us around the shadows of the water coconut palms along the tiny canals and allowed us immersing in beautiful nature and experiencing the traditional rural lifestyle of the Mekong Delta inhabitants.

Also, when landing at Unicorn mound, we had a stroll in fruit orchards and plantations, and enjoyed seasonal fruit and honey tea in the sound of "Southern Vietnamese folk music", performed by the locals.

Before enjoying the lunch, our team together joined an interesting activity, the fishing game, which required our handful skills in catching fishes. The sticky mud preventing us from easy movement coupled with the slimy, slippery fishes which all added up to make an entertaining experience. It was a lively and noisy scene where we crouched, slipped and groped in the mud, shouted with joy or exasperation. There were finally fourteen fishes caught in total which were all used to prepare a big lunch for our “winners” of the game.

After a long tiring-but-not-less-interesting day, My Tho gave our purple-suit family a farewell in a heavy rain. This however did not trouble us as we gained a lot. And all of us promised ourselves to come back to this peaceful land one day.
